In her previous life, Elsie was neglected by her husband, Ryan, mistreated by her mother-in-law, Scarlett, and saw her daughter, Emily, sent to live with Phillip, where she suffered greatly. Ryan mistakenly believed Maisie to be his savior. On the eve of their wedding, he was drugged and slept with Maisie. Consequently, Elsie found herself trapped in a marriage where she continued to face neglect and abuse. On Emily's birthday, she was thrown out of the house and witnessed Emily being beaten. Enraged, Elsie confronted Maisie, leading to Emily's accidental death.
